Ikogbo: first community outreach, and the launch

On 15 August 2026 Grace Maternal Foundation went to Ikogbo for its first community outreach. The same day was its official public launch. The Foundation began in public by doing the work it was set up to do, among the women it was set up to serve.
What happened
In the order the day ran.
Registration came first. Fifty-six women registered on the day: pregnant women, and mothers of children under one year old.
The opening prayer was led by Mrs Yusuf Kehinde, one of the women attending.
Matron Nwanna Akhere Martina, who sits on the Foundation's board, led the health session with a talk on antenatal care, and took the women's questions.
Nurse Ajayi followed with an interactive session on immunisation. The questions that came back went wider: polycystic ovary syndrome, family planning, and how mobile antenatal services would work. Nurse Ajayi answered them. A telephone line was shared for anyone wanting further health advice after the day.
A games session then tested what the women had taken from both talks.
Sixteen pregnant women received gift packs. Forty mothers of children aged roughly three to twelve months received packs that included nappies. Twelve women who had taken a full part in the health talk and the interactive session received baby care packs.
Nine women agreed to have their portraits taken by the river.
